Shared Beliefs
While city-building often leads us to relationships of mutuality, friendship, and even partnership with people who believe differently than us, our Network leaders share these basic beliefs.
THE APOSTLES’ CREED
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day He rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of the saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
STATEMENT OF FAITH
We believe in one God, who is infinite, unchangeable, and perfect - existing in three persons of one substance - The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory.
Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Jesus was anointed God’s Messiah and empowered by the Holy Spirit as He inaugurated God’s kingdom on earth. He died for the sins of the world and was raised from the dead on the third day. He ascended into heaven and rules at the right hand of the Father.
The Holy Spirit is a divine person and was poured out on the Church at Pentecost. The Holy Spirit indwells every believer, and it is God’s will for every believer to be filled and empowered by the Spirit.
The Old and New Testaments are verbally inspired by God, are His authoritative and perfect revelation for all things regarding our salvation, and are our ultimate authority in life and mission.
People were created in the image and likeness of God as male and female. Our original parents fell from grace bringing sin, sickness, and God’s judgment on the earth. Human beings are born in sin and therefore subject to God’s judgment and captive to the devil’s kingdom.
Salvation has been provided by Jesus Christ for all people. In His sinless, perfect life, Jesus met the demands of God’s law, and in His atoning death on the cross He took God’s judgment for sin. He has overpowered the reign of the devil as demonstrated in His preaching of the good news, resisting temptation, healing the sick, casting out demons, and raising the dead.
We believe that God’s kingdom has come in the ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ, that it continues to come in the ministry of the Holy Spirit through the Church, and that it will be consummated in the physical, personal, and glorious return of Jesus Christ as King.
In this present age, we actively continue the ministry of the Kingdom including prayer for healing of the sick.
The dead will be resurrected with blessing for the righteous and judgment for the unrighteous.
